Wetsel, our e-commerce supplier, was purchased a while back by the much larger BFG Supply, headquartered in Burton, Ohio. A few changes were evident following that transaction but overall most everthing seemed to be going on as usual. Imagine my surprise and outrage a week ago when I received an email from Wetsel Vice President Tom Wetsel informing us that they were shutting down their e-commerce business and would no longer ship products for website owners.

Why the surprise and outrage?  Prior to the email there had been no hint that there was a potential problem on the horizon.  Email said the Wetsel inventory would be migrated into the BFG Supply database and that database didn't support the single item inventory necessary for their e-commerce business.  Well, I do understand that could be a problem but I'm not convinced Wetsel and BFG didn't know this was an issue a long time ago .... like when BFG first bought Wetsel!  They certainly knew about it long before the email arrived in my mailbox.  Thousands of dollars was spent on the TerraDziac website redesign and that is all now flushed down the toilet!  Gone! Never to be used again!   A larger business might be able to absorb that cost but the small profit margin for most of our products made recovering that expense part of our 5 year plan.  Not only is that investment gone but we will have to do it again with another supplier.

So loyal customers, I just wanted you to know that your business through the years has been appreciated.  We do have another wholesale supplier and could have made this change seamlessly had we received a couple months notice.  Alas, our former e-commerce partner decided not to extend that courtesy so shopping at TerraDziac won't be possible for a bit.  We're hoping to get a new website in place within the next couple weeks.  In the meantime, happy gardening and thanks again for your business.
